The East and West campus make a strong statement and the two buildings provide abutments forming a ‘ gateway to the city ’ along Jan Smuts Avenue towards the Johannesburg City Centre . The west façade treatment reflects the external views described above and provides a sun shade to the west sun up to 16:00 in the afternoon at the lowest winter sun angle .
Indoor Environmental Quality
• Over 95 % of all painted surfaces meet the TVOC content limits . Over 95 % of all adhesives and sealants meet the TVOC content limits .
• 100 % of the carpets meet TVOC emissions limits outlined .
Timber Materials 97 % of the timber products ( by cost ) in the building have been sourced from either re-used timber , post-consumer recycled timber or Forest Stewardship Council ( FSC ) certified timber .
