JOHNSON TILES AND TILE
AFRICA CONTRACTS ADD
FLAVOUR TO NANDOS’
DESIGN INDABA STAND

Johnson Tiles, in collaboration
with Tile Africa Contracts, the
commercial division of Tile Africa,
supplied a custom-made tile for the
Nandos’ stand at Design Indaba.
In line with the purpose of the
Design Indaba expo, which is
all about taking creativity to the
next level, the aim was to supply
a trendy and modern tile. The tile
also needed to fit the design of the
stand, which had a very bold design
as well as modern light fixtures.
“We supplied a custom-made ceramic tile with octagonal patterns
and small inserts. The tile also had
three shades of blue, white and
grey,” said Tharien Smith, New
Product Designer at Johnson Tiles.
“The industry is moving away
from plain tiles and we are
seeing more pattern.
Our inkjet printer
was used for this
project
and
this allowed us
to include photorealistic patterns and
motifs that were printed
directly onto the tile surface
before firing,” says Smith.

NEOLITH LAUNCHES EXCITING NEW COLOURS

schemes, but using real concrete can make for a dusty interior. Cement finishes
are also susceptible to chips and cracks. NEOLITH slabs don’t emit dust or residues
and are chip and crack resistant, so can offer the look of concrete without any of the
disadvantages. Beton will be added to the existing concrete colour palette, providing a
more textured design.
Iron Moss and Nero are the final additions to the NEOLITH range, offering consumers
and commercial designers a new, metallic, textured look and a flat, black surface for even
more design options.
