of three months of lost time during beginning of lockdown and site reopening . Combined with a very wet summer , the final completion date was eventually moved to April 2021 .
As a premium grade office the architects wanted to provide a high rated finish material to give a unique identity and presence . The challenge was to design a building with its own distinctive style that did not detract from the Sasol building but was also different enough in style that it did not blend into the dark tones of the Sasol Parkade directly behind it . As Sasol ’ s wall is clad in a natural black slate tile , they therefore opted for a contrasting white smooth granite tile finish which would set off Sasol ’ s basement façade .
The addition of full height black windows and undulating balconies , which where strategically planned when considering fire break regulations , resulted in the unique shape and rhythm you see .
Now home to a leading law firm , the façade consists of strong horizontal and vertical elements made up of full-vision dark low-emissivity windows and solid white cladded ceramic tiled walls . The façade is articulated to allow light and views to filter into every office module . The undulating nature of the design creates balconies towards the north and east façade , giving spectacular views over Sandton .
The undulating geometry of the build creates private courtyards in unexpected areas . These courtyards ’ materials include water features , recessed seating and soft surrounding landscaping , which adds to a cool , quiet and shaded atmosphere outside of a busy , loud and hot urban environment .
The building design maximises the coverage of the entire site . Its close proximity to the Sasol
