‘ main street ’, creating access from all parts of the building to an open , public space . The feeling of informality allows for breakaway areas and meeting spaces where students and staff can gather away from the more formal classroom environment .
The lighting choices and the different heights at which they were placed emphasise the scale and height of the foyer . The choice of circular and rod style fittings gives a multi-layered effect and ensures the entire space is uniformly lit .
The main structure is a combination of offshutter concrete and galvanised steel . Internally , materials such as timber were chosen to soften the space , ensuring it does not echo a clinical
