As Neighbourhood Working necessitates a full clean desk policy at the end of the working day, individual lockers and storage accessible to all employees were incorporated into the design. No eating is allowed at the desks.
Keeping to the client’ s‘ light and airy’ brief, a splash of colour was introduced that, with strategically placed private huddle rooms and collaboration areas, separates this entirely open plan office into defined departmental neighbourhoods.
Part of the brief was to create a barista canteen area with an in-house barista. This was to be the central heart of the space, which is important as it is a space for the staff to come together. Working areas and client interface meeting rooms radiating from it.
Neighbourhood Working influenced the design concept down to the last detail. For example: The carpet layout was designed to lead the eye through the building, while cleverly creating‘ full stops’ at each neighbourhood. Use of lines in carpets lead your
eye past these visual barriers into the next neighbourhood. Each Neighbourhood is also allocated a different colour-scheme.
The building itself is long and the lines created through the design of the space lead your eye through the length of the building. Huddle rooms were placed strategically to create visual barriers between neighbourhoods and also created visually interesting spaces
