Situated in Brooklyn Pretoria , directly opposite the main entrance to the University of Pretoria ( UP ), Brooklyn House is the first phase of the new University Square precinct , which will reinvent accommodation options and lifestyle for Pretoria students .
Each phase will be complemented by value-added student-centric offerings . Brooklyn House offers a public restaurant , convenience store , rooftop pool , outdoor cinema and a gym amongst other facilities . Upcoming phases will include a rooftop running track , fitness studio , state of the art study centre , retail stores , a piazza and amphitheatre . Students housed at any one of the accommodation offerings will have access to all of the facilities available , making University Square a true mixed use precinct that will provide a true live , study and play environment for the students . A pedestrian bridge that will link the precinct directly with the university campus is currently under planning development .
Architectural Brief Boogertman and Partners were approached by Mile Investments to prepare a concept design for 110 residential units in Lynnwood Street . With the site ’ s close proximity to UP ’ s main campus the clients brief asked for a unique building typology that differentiates itself from the current market trend , challenging both the typological status-quo of student living , as well as the architectural aesthetic .
