ARCHITECTURAL FOCUS

THE NEW ERA OF FLORIM GALLERY

AN INTERVIEW WITH MATTEO NUNZIATI
In a setting that celebrates design culture, Florim renews its dialogue with the world of architecture and interiors, reopening the doors of its Gallery to unveil a completely reimagined exhibition concept, developed in collaboration with architect Matteo Nunziati.
At Florim’ s headquarters, a multisensory installation spanning 9,000 square meters comes to life, an immersive space where material, light, and emotion blend to express the identity of the products in a fresh and engaging way. The project unfolds across four exhibition areas, with a central piazza acting as a vantage point over the surrounding microarchitectures, each one showcasing the aesthetic versatility and application potential of Florim’ s collections. What is Florim Gallery, how has the space changed, and what inspired the project?
Florim Gallery is a multifunctional space covering 9,000 square meters, located at the company’ s headquarters in Fiorano Modenese( MO)- Italy. Opened in 2013, the venue is spread over two floors. At its heart is a double-height central area designed to host large events, while the upper floor is dedicated to product displays. In late 2024, a renovation project was launched to rethink the exhibition concept and enhance the guest experience. The ground floor has maintained its role as an event and hospitality space open to the local community, but it has been reimagined with a more elegant and refined atmosphere. The first floor, on the other hand, underwent a complete restyling. This decision was driven by the profound transformation the world of ceramic surfaces has undergone in recent years: sizes have changed, with slabs now exceeding 3 meters, thicknesses now range from 3 to 20 mm, and the

technologies available to enhance both the aesthetic and technical performance of the products have advanced significantly. We realized that the way we showcase these materials needed to evolve too, to communicate more effectively with architects, interior designers, the real estate sector, and furniture manufacturers, who are the new key users of ceramic surfaces. That’ s why we set out to create an immersive experience that tells the full story of the design potential of ceramics, a material now being used in entirely new ways, from kitchens and wardrobes to spas, shower trays, outdoor spaces, marine applications, and much more. In every setting, beauty meets functionality. Today, Florim Gallery stands as a manifesto of Italian know-how applied to the world of design.
What are the main innovations introduced in the restyling of the Gallery, and how is the new exhibition layout organized? The new exhibition concept embraces a dynamic and experimental language, marking a step forward in how ceramic products are presented, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and innovation. The layout unfolds along four main thematic paths, reflecting the core identities that define Florim’ s design approach: Luxury, Creative, Architectural, and Contemporary. At the heart of each section is a central“ piazza”, a space to pause and reflect, which acts as a starting point for
