Sugatsune Door Mechanisms. More Choice With a Premium Touch Silent & Soft Closing SOFT MOTION When it comes to door mechanisms, hinges tend to attract most of the attention. And not without good reason - after all, they provide the essential functionality which, by definition, makes a door a door, i.e. the ability to open and close it. At Sugatsune, our ambition has long been to establish ourselves as global leaders in door motion technology and the components that deliver it. We have therefore invested heavily in driving forward innovation in hinge design and engineering, adding features like controlled close, free stop, open assist and wide-angle lateral opening to our standard hinge mechanism stable. However, we have also always maintained the importance of looking beyond hinges alone. Whatever innovations we have developed in hinge technology, whatever premium features we have added, we have also looked to make the functionality available through other components. It’s all about our commitment to increasing the options available to our customers, and giving them as many choices as possible. Take soft close mechanisms, for example. Ever since our UDH torque hinge brought the concept of soft close toilet lids to Europe, Sugatsune’s patented rotary damper technology has been widely regarded as being a trailblazer in soft close solutions for furniture, interior and architectural components. Our HG and Olympia 360 damper hinge ranges - the latter fitted with our award-winning Lapcon adjustable damper - continue to be best sellers. Door dampers represent a simple, convenient way to add premium soft close functionality to existing doors. PUSH OPEN TO Avoiding slamming, lowering the risk of damage or injury, the intrinsic pleasure of smooth, controlled closing motion - for cabinets, partitions and entrance ways. Sugatsune manufactures dampers for doors of all weights and sizes, and for use with different types of hinge. For small to medium sized cabinets, our range starts with the DC-90, a straightforward damper suitable for timber and glass doors weighing up to 4kg, and designed to be paired with most conventional hinge types. But for cabinets with concealed hinges installed, we offer three products - the DC-4000, DI-4000 and DL-4000. Based on a spring damper mechanism, these provide three different fitting options for doors weighing between 3 and 5kg. At the other end of the scale when it comes to heavy doors it is not possible to incorporate soft-close into the hinge and standard door dampers are not able to support the additional weight. At Sugatsune we feel that large doors deserve discreet hardware with the same durable soft close functionality: The DC-200 is suitable for full length cabinet, wardrobe and partition doors weighing anything up to 40kg. Like our 4000 series products, the DC-200 is designed specifically to be paired with concealed hinges, in this case the heavy duty J95 range for large cabinet doors. Finally, we have also extended the damper catch concept beyond cabinets to embrace interior doors, too. Our LDD door damper range was originally conceived as an update of the door closer/stay, replacing the arm attachment between door and frame with a late catch mechanism which significantly reduced the profile of our unit. This allowed us to first develop the LDD-V, a fully concealed premium soft close solution for cabinet doors.
