91 % of U . S . Institutions are creating or expanding programs to offer more International for-academic credit opportunities
90 % of U . S . Institutions are recruiting and training faculty to develop or lead study abroad programs
Recently , more than 50,000 students , 18,000 alumni , and 500 employers were surveyed across the 34 nations in Europe . The research question was to assess if the skills that employers look for in their employees are enhanced by the study abroad experience . Employers reported valuing six skills in hiring their employees , and alumni reported these to be critical in their career success . Can you name the six ?
Studies have shown these skills matter in the success of graduates around the world . These traits are :
1 ) Confidence : have stronger conviction in my own abilities 2 ) Tolerance of ambiguity : to learn to adapt to new situations and to diversity 3 ) Vigor : to be better able to solve problems 4 ) Curiosity : to be more open to new challenges 5 ) Serenity : to be more aware of my strengths and weaknesses 6 ) Decisiveness : to know better what I want and reach decisions more easily On a scale of 1 to 10 , rate diverse group of your students on these six
