91 % of U. S. Institutions are creating or expanding programs to offer more International for-academic credit opportunities
90 % of U. S. Institutions are recruiting and training faculty to develop or lead study abroad programs
Recently, more than 50,000 students, 18,000 alumni, and 500 employers were surveyed across the 34 nations in Europe. The research question was to assess if the skills that employers look for in their employees are enhanced by the study abroad experience. Employers reported valuing six skills in hiring their employees, and alumni reported these to be critical in their career success. Can you name the six?
Studies have shown these skills matter in the success of graduates around the world. These traits are:
1) Confidence: have stronger conviction in my own abilities 2) Tolerance of ambiguity: to learn to adapt to new situations and to diversity 3) Vigor: to be better able to solve problems 4) Curiosity: to be more open to new challenges 5) Serenity: to be more aware of my strengths and weaknesses 6) Decisiveness: to know better what I want and reach decisions more easily On a scale of 1 to 10, rate diverse group of your students on these six
