Charity 8 / 16 Challenge 2022
Registration for the Charity 8 / 16 Swimmers will take place on the Thursday morning from 06h30 . Timing Chips and caps will be issued at registration on the “ finish ” side of the dam . Please only swimmers will be allowed at registration .
One vehicle pass will be issued to each swimmer which will exempt those in the car from paying the Gate Entrance Fee .
There will be marquees for the Charity 8 / 16 swimmers and 1 supporter on each side of the dam . Please stick to only ONE supporter on each side . We will be monitoring this especially at the “ finish ” side of the dam .
The 8 / 16-mile athletes will swim from finish to start as per the schedule below . We will start at the “ finish ” side of the dam . Please make sure that you enter and exit the water over the timing mats to ensure that your times are recorded .

Swimmers will receive ONE finish medal and their 8 / 16 Mile medal upon completion of their last mile .
TO NOTE :
• In line with legislation , all persons arriving at Midmar Dam resort will be required to wear a mask and will remain wearing it all times unless upon immediately entering the water to compete . We recommend wearing a disposable mask and bringing a supply with you as these will be disposed of at the water ’ s edge before each swim .
• Swimmers will be required to space at least 1m apart as they rest on each side of the dam . Refreshments will be provided to them by two administrative staff in place .
• Disposable masks will be issued to the swimmers upon exit from the water for use while resting and will be disposed of in medical waste bins near the water ’ s edge .
• On exiting the water for the final time and therefore finishing the swims for the morning , swimmers will put on their disposable mask and walk up the slipway at least 1m apart in order to promote physical distancing between them .
• Swimmers using Safe Swim Devices will be asked to remove them and hand to a Midmar Mile staff member .
• Once at the finish on completion of 4 miles each day , Midmar Mile staff will remove timing chips and keep for the following day ' s swims
• Swimmers may not return to the finish area once they have completed their last swim .
