ARRIVING AT MIDMAR DAM

Covid 19 Protocol

Swimmers and Support Crew will not have to provide any proof of vaccination nor a negative test result on entering Midmar Dam . However , all persons entering the Resort are required to be wearing a mask that covers the mouth and nose . Swimmers are asked to wear a disposable mask as this will need to be worn at all times until the swimmer reaches the waters edge , whereupon it will be discarded in medical waste bins .

Midmar Dam Entry Fees

Please note the following entry fees payable to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife to get into Midmar Dam . To avoid delays at the entrance and to keep traffic flowing , please have the correct amount of cash with you . Credit card payments may also be made . Note that there is no vehicle charge at the gate , only a payment per person
Thursday 10 & Friday 11 February 2022
R40.00 per adult R20.00 per child ( 3-12 yrs ) After midday on both days the rate falls to R20.00 for everyone
Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 February
R20.00 per person ( all ages ) During these two days , the following cards are not accepted : Wildcards Rhino Gold Card

Traffic Flow

There will be a 2-way traffic flow between the Start and the Finish in operation . This will help traffic move a little fast between the drop off and collection points .
Note that no buses will be provided between the Start and Finish areas , therefore please refer to the Traffic Flow map and follow the directions from the marshals on duty .

Parking

Please park where the Bhejane Security Officials direct you . While these officials will also act as security for your vehicle where necessary , note that you are parking your vehicle at your own risk and officials on duty will not be responsible for your vehicle or keeping hold of your vehicle keys

Support Crew

Swimmers may bring Support Crew with them where necessary on all four days of the event . Support Crew are asked to remain outside all areas demarcated for Swimmers Only , unless they need to accompany a minor . Support Crew will be able to drive to the Start to drop off swimmers and wait there until a swimmer has entered the water . They can then drive to the Finish to wait for their swimmer to finish their event .

Spectators and Gatherings

Please note that the 2022 aQuelle Midmar Mile is not authorised to host spectators , nor social gatherings after swims are complete . We ask all persons present to please respect the rules in place and to leave the event area ( Midmar Resort ) as soon as their last swim for the day is complete .

REGISTRATION

Registration will only take place at Midmar Dam on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February and entrants may only register for the swim they are about to participate in .
Registration will open at 06h30 on both mornings and you will need to register no more than 1 hour before you are going to enter the water
Only swimmers are allowed in the Registration area , unless a minor who will need to be accompanied by a member of their Support Crew .

Timing Chip

START For every swim that you are participating in , you will receive one timing chip threaded onto a strip of velcro . This is to be attached around your RIGHT ANKLE before you enter the water . Do not attach it to your wrist or anywhere else as you will not receive a result .
FINISH Your timing chip will be taken from you at the finish . If you are swimming more than once during the day or weekend , you will need to return to Registration before your next swim to receive a new timing chip
RACE INFO

Race Numbers

You will receive your race number at Registration when you pick up your timing chip . If you are swimming more than once over the weekend , you will retain the same race number but will receive a new chip for each event that you swim .

Body Marking

After collecting your timing chip and barcoded tag , you will exit the Registration area to Body Marking . The Race number allocated to you must be written clearly at the top of BOTH ARMS . This is an important safety measure in the water and will assist Action Photo at the Finish

Barcoded Tags

Your tag has been coded with the same details as the timing chip and is an extra safety measure in the water . It also acts as a timing back up system at the Finish .
Attach the tag to the inside of your costume with the safety pin provided and remove to hand in at the Finish
