Summer Sizzler Youth Western Pleasure Feature Champion- Tirra Ewers and How About A Dance Q-98732 with Holly and Kane Skopp( left)
At just 19 years of age, Queensland rider Tirra Ewers has already developed a deep connection with the Quarter Horse and a clear vision for her future in the industry. From beginning her riding journey at a local riding school at five years old to competing across a broad range of Western and English events, Tirra’ s journey has been shaped by three special horses, dedicated mentors and a family who has supported her every step of the way.
For Tirra, success is about far more than results. It is about continually learning, building confidence and developing the partnership between horse and rider.
FALLING IN LOVE WITH HORSES
Growing up in Cornubia, Queensland, Tirra’ s passion for horses began at just five years old when she started riding at a local riding school.
“ It was from there that I fell in love with horses and eventually bought my first Quarter Horse,” Tirra explains.
That first Quarter Horse opened the door to a journey that would see Tirra compete across multiple disciplines and become an active member of the AQHA community.
“ To me, being part of AQHA means having a place where I can continue to grow, compete, make connections and build a future in the horse industry,” she says.“ I am proud to be part of a community that celebrates the Quarter Horse and the dedication that goes into producing and competing them. AQHA has become a big part of my journey and I hope to continue learning, competing and contributing to the Quarter Horse community for many years to come.”
THREE HORSES, THREE LESSONS
Today, Tirra is incredibly fortunate to have three horses of her own, each playing a unique and important role in her development as a rider and competitor. Her first Quarter Horse, Sin N Spin Q-69103, affectionately known as Whiskey, is by Diablo Spin Q-51919 and out of Pretty Good Heavens Q-41868. Tirra competed with Whiskey in Ranch Riding and Reining, describing him as the horse who taught her so much.
