DIRECTOR REPORTS - 2024 / 2025
RACHEL TURNER
- Portfolio : Amateur
I would like to congratulate everyone who got to spend time showing their horses this season and also to those who enjoyed some time with their horses at home .
The comradery that I witnessed this season was refreshing to see with our amateur teams challenges so well supported at state and national level . We had a huge 21 teams entered at Q24 , which is an impressive 63 amateurs . Well done to all and we hope to see you join in again at your next opportunity .
Once again for the coming season , the Amateur Division will be hosting free amateur clinics . I encourage you all to show your support to this initiative so that we can justify running them again in the future .
The Amateur Division will also continue to provide prizes this season for the teams challenges and the Super Select incentive at Q25 and state shows .
A survey from the Amateur Division will be emailed out this season to gather information from our amateur members to help guide our future decisions . This is the ideal platform for constructive feedback and new ideas to be presented .
With Equitana just around the corner , the AQHA will once again have a stall within the Breed Village . The Amateur and Youth portfolios are responsible for the running of this . If you would like to help with running the stall or have a suitable horse to have on display , please reach out to myself or Liz Keating .
As always , continue to enjoy your beloved horses and friendships they have aided .
Cheers , Rachel

- Portfolio : Traditional
After many years in the making , there is now a collection of educational introduction ’ s and segments into the differences between Show Hunters and Show Hacks in the Traditional Portfolio which are held at our Affiliate shows , as well as State & National levels .
The presentation covers how to judge and what to look for , along with the different paces required in their workouts and also the difference in show gear such as bridle wear and show clothes & the difference in the horses makeup & quarter marks .
There is also a dedicated segment for different style of movements and workouts for Show Hunters and Show Hacks .
This will be a great help for bigger shows and State and National level shows that are run , so affiliates have an idea of who to attract to these events .
They are EA and Show Horse Council approved events .
I would like to thank Olivia Palfreyman for all her hard work for putting this together for me .
We are also working on conducting Show Hunters & Show Hack clinics this year in 2 states to start with to get the message out of how versatile our Australian Quarter Horses really are to compete in these Traditional events .
