now does all of their own breeding , and she and Wayne do all of their own repro work . She says they started using frozen semen from some great stallions , and it all just snowballed from there .
‘ We went over to the 2019 AQHA World Show , and Kristy and Kyle Mobberley also went over . I love Hunter horses , so our intentions were to purchase a good , young Hunter Under Saddle mare , with the idea of getting some embryos from her . Kyle and Kristy knew Nancy-Sue Ryan , who owned the Congress Champion HUS performer and sire , Good Better Best A2- 3609 . At 16.3hh , the stunning stallion excelled in Hunter classes during his standout debut at the 2017 All American Quarter Horse Congress . He won the Congress Championship for 3-Year-Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle and a Reserve Congress Championship for Open 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle , and has already sired multiple champions .’
Visiting Nancy ’ s Texas property to look at mares in foal to Good Better Best , they saw weanlings in various paddocks , and a big yard full of weanling colts .
‘ We didn ’ t want a colt , but looking at them , one sorrel colt stood out . Nancy ’ s partner , Larry Hansch , a great horseman and judge , spoke to us about that colt and said that if he was looking , that ’ d be the one he ’ d choose . We then talked about the colt ’ s dam , Boys Move Over , and what she had won was just incredible !’
An absolutely beautiful , talented 16.3hh black AQHA mare , Boys Move Over , 5425653 , is 2 x AQHA World Champion HUS , 2 x Bronze WC , NSBA Champion & Reserve NSBA Champion , 2 x Reserve Congress Champion & Highpoint NSBA in HUS & AQHA Highpoint HUS mare , as well as a multiple Congress & NSBA and Champion producer . great general performance lines , so it made huge sense to import that colt ! After his long trip , he arrived at Christmas , 2019 , an ugly , gangly yearling , and we hoped that would change . We stablenamed him Larry , after Larry Hansch , and he ’ s since turned into a big , beautiful horse , with a magic temperament !’
Just like each of his parents , Better Be Ready has started his show career off in an exciting way , and already looks like he ’ ll be a force to be reckoned with in Hunter Under Saddle . Recently , at the 2024 AQHA National Show , Pam showed Larry under two USA Judges and he took out the Q24 National Champion Amateur Performance Stallion from four exhibitors , and the Q24 National Champion Amateur Performance Stallion . Pam then saddled up to show Larry and win the AmQHA Select Hunter Under Saddle , from a class of 17 . Excitingly , they followed this up when they took out the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle and the Select Amateur Hunter Under Saddle .
‘ We then got to watch Kristy Mobberly show Larry to take the Reserve National Champion Senior Hunter Under Saddle . They then returned to the show pen to win the National Champion AmQHA Hunter Under Stallion All Age ! Kristy showed him to perfection and it was so exciting to see him move the way he did !’
Pam and Wayne plan to take Larry to NPHA , for the Hunter Under Saddle and Hunter In Hand classes . The Jones ’ would like to sincerely thank Kyle & Kristy Mobberley for all their help and support with Better Be Reddy . With the breeding season approaching exciting things are definitely expected !
‘ But we were undecided and went home without a horse . We spoke about things , and we soon realised that Australia needed a great Hunter colt , and I wanted one to show . Larry also carries
