- Portfolio : Judging
The judging area of our association saw the introduction of online judging for both our existing and new judges . Our existing judges are now required to complete an on-line refresher on an annual basis which ensures our judges are up to date with any rule changes and also allows us to identify any areas where our judges need extra training .
New judges now complete the first two sections of their judging accreditation on line in the comfort of their own homes and obtain their accreditation without having to leave their home state or attend a judging seminar . I think this is a huge step forward in the area of technology and wish to thank the office staff for their work in achieving this milestone .
We also saw quite few members complete the course to simply upskill them on the rules , which is a good idea . I received some great feedback from our members who did the course advising me that they thought it was a great learning experience .
Covid has raised many challenges for our AQHA judges and I wish to thank them for facing these challenges . We had many instances where the judge booked for a show was unable to attend due to border closures and our other judges were more than happy to step up and help out our affiliates at the last minute .
Work has now commenced on a training pack for anyone who is interested in becoming a judge as the Covid restrictions have identified the need for more judges , especially in some areas .

- Portfolio : Amateur and Youth
The board consolidated the Amateur and youth portfolios this year . The amateur division have a very cohesive relationship with the board .
Even though we are experiencing unusually difficult times , the Amateur Division have continued to try and support their members , but were unable to run planned clinics .
Plans were cancelled for the Trans Tasman and Youth World Cup events . Moving forward we hope these events will be rescheduled .
