DIRECTOR REPORTS - 2020 / 2021
SHANE MASSINGHAM
- Portfolio : Affiliates
The past year has again been an extremely testing time for all of us , we could never have imagined the turmoil encountered by the continual lockdowns , causing cancellation of shows both prior to and during events .
Affiliates have done it tougher than ever before and AQHA appreciates the lengths some affiliates have gone to just to survive , we have been able to offer a small gesture by reducing Affiliate fees for the coming 12 months to those Affiliates that hung in there last year .
During the last 12 months on the board , I have been in contact via zoom to a number of Affiliates in Qld to help settle show dates amicably , to help all Affiliates , I believe they must nurture and grow the members in their closest proximity to improve the numbers and not rely on people who reside hours away .
The Affiliates Incentive program , created last year to reward Affiliates who are busy in their promotion of our Australian Quarter Horse activities has been put on temporary hold due to covid affecting the availability of clubs to actively promote much at all . We will revisit this as soon as we can .
Once again , our Victorian Affiliates got together in March and worked out their busy show year dates and unopposed dates .
Unfortunately , once again it was to be in vain this year with the shows grinding to a halt in some states with constant lockdowns in Victoria , NSW , WA , SA and even Qld .
During the last 12 months we have had 1 new Regular Affiliate & 3 Limited Event Affiliates apply to join our ranks and congratulations and welcome go to the committee of the North Coast Ranch Horse Assn located near Grafton NSW , & Tropicana Classic Quarter Horse & Performance Assn located in Brisbane North who completed their applications .
With many Affiliate monthly events cancelled we saw State Shows in Victoria & WA cancelled on two occasions , NSW & SA were able to run successfully with changes to Judges initially , Tas was able to go ahead with Qld being postponed on Day 1 of their show , but able to complete the show in conjunction with Tropicana Classic at the QSEC arena Caboolture a week later .
My Goal to be in contact with more Affiliates was quashed again by Covid as many just could not run much at all . I will certainly endeavour to contact more going forward if I retain this portfolio .
We wish all affiliates the very best and we will all come out of this in the end if we stay strong .
With Thanks Shane Massingham
