‘ Curious , I asked Martin what a futurity was ,’ Kate recalls . ‘ After his explanation , I felt inspired to give it a go ! Our first futurity run resulted in a ‘ run-off ’ for first place . I was further intrigued and asked Martin what a run-off was . He told me to just go into the arena , and do exactly what I ’ d just done . So I did , and I was awarded the same score , with my Futurity debut resulting in a Reserve Champion Non Pro Title ! I ’ ve since learned that Reining is the ultimate challenge of speed and finesse , one never compromising the other . Each a challenge , together they ’ re an absolute addiction !’

Campaigning Reining horses since 1996 , today Kate shows across AQHA , Reining Australia and NRHA Events . The AQHA Reining events , she says , are complimentary to preparing horses for the Major Aged Events , and the inclusion of Ranch events offers a great opportunity to ensure horses are relaxed and seasoned in the show pen .
