STUD BOOK REPORT - MARCH / APRIL 2025
KIM JOHNSON
Hey Members just an update on your stud book committee .
We are meeting before every board meeting so we can address any members needs and are looking to the future . We currently have an Amnesty on FM registrations please contact the office if you need further information .
The Committee has been looking at the IBF process and we are looking into developing ICSI rules so we can have them in place to safe guard the integrity of our breed . If you the members would like to have input please email me with your thoughts ;
There is a new genetic disorder on the horizon EQUINE JUVENILE SPINOCEREBELLA ATAXIA [ EJSCA ] we have no tests available in Australia at present for this disorder yet but we will keep you informed as soon as it becomes available . If you need more information you can go the UC DAVIS website click here https :// vgl . ucdavis . edu / test / equine-juvenile-spinocerebellar-ataxia-ejsca this site can be very informative .
Your committee would welcome any thoughts or ideas that you think could benefit AQHA .
We are working on going over the stud book rules , so we can stay relevant for the future , please remember that the early bird discounts for registrations and breeding returns are due the end of February . If you miss theses date know there are no late fees until after 31st of May which is the official date for breeding returns and registrations .
I would like to thank our office staff and Vanessa for their hard work , they have been exceptionally busy over Nutrien Classic and sale . This is our biggest event for the year and does impact on our office with a lot of work so please be patient , things are getting back to normal now .

HALL OF FAME REPORT - MARCH / APRIL 2025
RICKY GLEN
Dear Members ,
I hope you enjoy the articles on the 1st 3 inductees into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1997 .
The Hall of Fame was established to recognise both people and horses which have made our breed what it was today , The King Ranch along with the 1st registered Quarter Horse “ Vaquero ” Q-1 and of course the legend , Greg Lougher all had a tremendous impact on our breed in the early years and most of the horses imported by King Ranch and Greg Lougher still show in a lot of the pedigrees in todays AQHA registered horses .
I hope you all enjoy the history lesson and this will be the start of features in each magazine to come .
With Thanks Ricky Glen
