CELEBRITY CUTTING
The best was saved for the end of the
day, with the return of the Celebrity
Cutting, and what a great success
this event was. Destination NSW was
the major sponsor of the Celebrity
Cutting, with an auction held and all
proceeds going to the North Charity
to assist in their work with flood
affected folk in North Queensland.
Hugh Bowman very kindly signed a
photo of he and ‘Winx’ winning the
Queen Elizabeth Stakes last year,
for the lucky winning bidder. The
Celebrities this year in the line-up to
be crowned champion were jockey,
Hugh Bowman, Cowgirl twins and
travel guides Stack and Mel, former
NRL star Shane Rodney, actress
and reality TV Star Cass Wood,
International Dressage Rider Brett
Parbery, TV and Radio host of the
‘Hooked’ Fishing show Dave Butfield
and superstar actress Simmone Jade
McKinnon.
With a blistering run of 76 points,
Melissa Wilburn (Mel) showed on the
talented Shumack family horse, the
famous ‘Eyebrows Cat Q-58934’ who
was kindly donated for the night. The
Destination NSW Celebrity Cutting
event successfully raised over
$10,000 for the Sisters of the North
Charity by the end of the event.
The FUTURITY CAMPDRAFT held
on Friday, 7th June, is a new event
on the NCHA Calendar, sponsored by
Scone Equine Group.
The well-received event had a big 127
entries, with the winner receiving a
fabulous Trophy Buckle and a service
to the amazing Stallion ‘Shines
Like Metallic Q-84726’ donated by
Belinda Staib.
With a final of 25 riders, it was the
talented Mark Buttsworth that came
through with a total score of 178 on
Almore to be crowned the Scone
Equine Group Futurity Campdraft
Champion, not far behind were
Co Reserve Champions Warwick
Lawrence on Hunter View Royal
Chic and Troy Palmer on ‘This Cats
Rumba Q-83195’ with an equal score
of 177.5, third was Mitchell Hoy on
‘SCH Smart Time Q-80921’ with a
score of 175.
Next up, the OPEN SNAFFLE-BIT
FUTURITY FINAL, sponsored by
Yulgilbar Quarter Horses, boasted 12
placegetters going into the final, with
Matt Moffatt on board David Bell’s
mare, ‘JMD Fascinator Q-83587’
