2019 AUSTRALIAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION
OPEN DERBY

Sixty entries competed in the first Go Round of the Australian Quarter Horse
Association Open Derby on Saturday the 1st of June at the prestigious Australian
Equine and Livestock Events Center in Tamworth, New South Wales at the
2019 National Cutting Horse Association Buffalo Ranch Futurity.
W
ith an estimated total purse payout of an
impressive $50,000 plus trophies to the
value of $9,000 including the beautiful
and most sort after Open Derby Champion
Trophy Saddle sponsored from Marsh Carney Saddlery,
Trophy Saddle Pad from Diamond Wool Pad Co, Buckle,
Garland and Owner Trophy sponsored by the NCHA, Hat
Voucher from Resistol Hats, Boot Voucher from Ariat,
the Australian Quarter Horse Association Open Derby
was hotly contested.
Also on offer to the Open Derby Reserve Champion was
the Buckle and Boot Voucher sponsored by the NCHA,
Iconoclast Support Boots from Iconoclast Equine, Boot
Voucher from Ariat and Rug from Easy On Rugs.
Going to the Open Derby Finalists was Ariat Gear Bags
sponsored by Ariat and Go Round Sashes and Finalist
Sashes from the NCHA.
The Australian Quarter Horse Association proudly
sponsored the 2019 Open Derby with a more than
impressive $2,500 going to the owner of the Highest
placed Registered Quarter Horse and another $2,500
going to the breeder of the Highest placed Registered
Quarter Horse.
With a crowd pleasing and massive score of 218 points
from the professional NCHA Judges Mr. Andy Adams, Mr.
Craig Gilham, Mr. Phil Webb, Mrs. Nikki Morgan and Mr.
Craig Sim, Yulgilbar Hi Kitty Q-81923 took out the top
honours Todd Graham aboard for Yulgilbar Quarter Horse
Stud. The 2014 black mare was bred by Yulgilbar Quarter
Horse Stud and is a daughter of the incredibly gifted
cutting horse and sire Hydrive Cat Q-64619 (IS) and from
Yulgilbar Well Played Oak Q-61472.
Finishing in the second place in Go Round One with
a brilliant 216.5 marking run was High Rollin Playboy
