The Amateur Division Teams Challenge is
a great way to meet new people, it gives you
a reason to chat to Amateurs that you do not
know or are outside your friendship group.
Every Amateur should be in the Teams Chal-
lenge at the State Show. Amateur encompasses
Amateur, Select Amateur and Novice Amateur.
Upcoming events that are running an Amateur
Teams Challenge Event - let’s make sure every
Amateur (Amateur, Select and Novice) is in a
team.
It is fun and the worst thing that can happen,
is that you may not win, but you will make new
friends.
QLD State Show 3rd-6th July -
Teams Challenge winners were:
Kerry Dersken and Janette Mansley
The Amateur Division Business Plan has been
submitted to the AQHA. The Survey results
indicated that our Amateurs wanted the free
Clinics to be run in each State, this was a major
component of our submission.
The Amateur Division will be sending the
Annual Survey to all Amateurs in the near
All comments and statistics will be sent to the
AQHA, as a direct communication from our
Amateurs.
Due to the sudden cold weather, we have seen
a large amount of under-weight, older horses.
Please ensure you follow below to help them
get through the colder months.
Things to consider are:
• Diet adequate for the increased need
for energy to keep warm, giving a
balanced feed with adequate levels of
protein, carbohydrates and fibre.
• Rugging and shelter
• Vaccination, worming and dental
programs are up to date.

If you rug your horse during winter, please
make sure you check them twice a day and that
the strapping has been adjusted so that it is not
too tight or too loose. You should also make
sure you take the rug off at least once a week
to check on the condition of your horse and to
inspect for any rubbing or wither sores.
Finally, thank you to the Amateur Division
Committee for their hard work and dedication.
Onwards and upwards!!
Cheers
Leonie Gorski
