PRESIDENT REPORT- JULY / AUGUST 2025

Dear Members,
Well the NCHA Futurity in Tamworth has just finished and the AQHA Sponsored Open Derby was one of the highlights as usual.
This event saw the best 4 year old horses in Australia compete for the winners cheque along with buckles and trophies as well as AQHA Incentive cash paid out to the owners of the winning horse and also the breeder which must be financial with the AQHA.
Miss Holly Rey was the winner owned by Dean Jones and was sired by Stevie Rey Von( USA) x Hollys Playin. They picked up the $ 2500.00 cash incentive for being the highest placed Quarter Horse owned by a finan-cial member and the breeders award went to Emerald Park Performance Horses who were the financial breeder of the 2nd plane horse, Metaloo owned by Robert Jones Investments.
The AQHA also hosted a get together for the riders, owners and breeders of all the NCHA Open Derby Finalist as well as awarding AQHA Finalist Vests to all of the finalists as well.
The AQHA Approved NCHA Legacy Select Cutting Bloodstock Sale was held on the Thursday night with 21 yearlings and 1 Embryo selling, top price was for a Metallic Cat x I Wont Back Down filly for $ 110,000.00 so congratulations to all of the vendors and buyers.
The AQHA Board has just held there June meeting held in Brisbane which was also our budget meeting were all of the portfolio holders submitted their budgets for the next 12 months and further information of the outcome of this will be announced in the near future with some great news coming for AQHA members across the board.
The 2025 Hall of Fame nominees were also looked at and these will be presented at our annual dinner to be held in Melbourne in October this year where we will honour these outstanding people and horses going into the Hall of Fame.
Show competitors are gearing up for the run of state shows to be held in the eastern states over the next few months before the start of the breeding season and the board wishes all competitors the best of luck at these forth coming shows.
I encourage members who may be interested in becoming an AQHA judge to look at the new format which will allow members to become judges and I thank Joanne Gregory for getting this put together for the AQHA.
The Willinga Park Camp Draft has been run with Hugh Miles riding Vintage Whiskey, an AQHA registered Quarter Horse taking out the $ 100,000.00 winners cheque.
As always, Quarter Horses featured in most of the events there.
In closing, I thank members for getting there breeders certificates and registrations in on time and I wish you all the best for the forthcoming foaling season.
