BREEDING & FOUNDATION: A Mare Built for Cow Work Gidget was bred by Robert and Colette Greer of Crystal Park Stud in Queensland, a breeding program respected for producing athletic, talented cow horses.
Her pedigree is a tapestry of elite cutting genetics: SIRE: Dual Smart Rey Q-72175 son of the influential Dual Rey DAM: EP Spin O Catt Q-64435 by Sophisticated Catt out of a Spinifex mare
This lineage is synonymous with cow sense, agility, trainability, and quick-thinking athleticism— qualities that would become key to Gidget’ s success.
EARLY YEARS: The X-Factor Emerges Gidget’ s foundation was started by John and Angie Wicks from Wicks Equine. Their program gave her a start with the calm, correct grounding that would carry through her career.
She was later purchased as a two year old by Jill Busfield of Gidgee Eyewear, Gidget entered a full cutting program with Jills cousin Bill Carey, who recognised the mare’ s potential early. Even then, her presence was undeniable. Despite her compact size, she had an unmistakable X-factor— a spark obvious to everyone who worked with her.
