From all reports , Austen was apparently pretty excited about his acquisition of the very well-bred mare , having no problems parting with $ 17,000 to secure the purchase ! He was also very pleased to hear about some bonus news that came with the purchase . Because he had purchased her through the Masters ' Sale , he and his new mare would qualify for an entry into the Charlie Maher Memorial Young Guns at the Nutrien Classic , something that he ’ ll now look forward to getting her ready for .
David was very pleased that she went to a buyer who will do the right thing with her .
‘ As it turned out , the mare ’ s really going to suit Austen Elias , the young fellow who bought her from the sale , and she ’ ll definitely do the job he wants ,’ David says . ‘ Austen ’ s going to take her out mustering with Will Durkin , and she ’ ll be doing a ton of work , which will do her the world of good .’
David and Raelene Smith , of Peak View Quarter Horses , would like to thank the AQHA for their great sponsorship of the Nutrien Classic Award , this being the second one they ’ ve received .
‘ It ’ s an award that one doesn ’ t even realise they ’ re going to get ,’ David says . ‘ It was so unexpected . We ’ ve been AQHA members and breeders for a long time now , so we really do appreciate it .
