AQHA FEATURE: AQHA AMATEUR DIVISION PROFILE- JOSEPH WALLACE
Joseph Wallace and KND Potential Enterprise Q-91165
Hobbies: I enjoy cooking simple dishes such as pasta bolognese, lentil dahl and curries. I love working in my vegetable garden and use some of the produce in my cooking. I also have various fruit trees and I made nectarine jam for the first time recently.
We have 15 grandchildren, and my favourite day of the week is Saturday when most of the family come to our place. It’ s total chaos and lots of fun.
What is a fun fact that the western industry doesn’ t know about you: Most people in the western Industry probably don’ t know that I speak several languages.
I grew up in Egypt, but my family spoke French at home. I went to The British School in Egypt until the country was Nationalised by Gamal Abdel Nasser and we had to speak Arabic at school. I struggled with this change at first, so my father had me tutored by a Sheikh who taught me to read and write Arabic. Somewhere along the way I also picked up Italian and some Greek.
Future Goals: I intend to continue riding for a few more years as it’ s so important for my wellbeing. It keeps me active and challenges me.
Do you have any young horses coming up: We have a few nice mares at home and bred a foal every year or so. I have a yearling that we bred last year, Gotta Love A Roan( Emma) by Reach For The Roan. She is calm, balanced and talented. At her first show she won High Point Yearling at this year’ s NPHA.
Five of our grandchildren enjoy riding. Our daughter, Elizabeth and four of our grandchildren compete regularly with Janette and I at our local shows. These show days are crazy, but we have an absolute ball! We’ re so lucky that we all share a passion for horses and get to make so many great memories together.
Favourite food: I love Italian, Greek and Egyptian food. I also have a sweet tooth and enjoy halva, baclava or vanilla slice with a nice cappuccino.
Favourite car: I drive a red model S Tesla that I bought eight years ago, it doesn’ t have a roar like a Ram but it certainly has a lot of get up and go. 0 to 100 km / h in 4.4 sec
Favourite colour: Sky blue is my favourite colour
Favourite Class to show in: My favourite classes are Showmanship, Trail and Western riding.
