The Gnani can give them the gurukilli to become laghutam, and then they may become a guru. Otherwise, to become a guru in the current time cycle is a sign of going down to a lower life form. Gurus of the Dwapar and Tretayug - the previous eras of the present cosmic time cycle - were true gurus. And now? Now they do not even have the gurukilli as a guru.
