Building Community Connections

By DANA BRENNER
Spiritual Unity Sunday will be held April 6 in The Hazelglade Lounge and Kalapuya Room of The Activity Center.
Spiritual Unity Sundays
BRENNER celebrate universal values
across differences through thematic exploration of what they mean to us as individuals, a community and a society. They include a potluck fellowship period, a talk and discussion and a guided practice related to the theme. No cost, no sign up, Charbonneau residents, guests and local community members welcome.
April theme: Loving kindness & compassion
Love, empathy, and kindness are universally celebrated as transformative and divine qualities— from the Christian Agape to Metta in Buddhism,
to the humanistic values of kindness. Join neighbors in an ecumenical exploration of what this means to you, to our community and to our world. This is an inclusion-based event, centered around exploring where we come together.
Future themes include: June 8— Impermanence, Sept. 14— The Nature of the Soul and Nov. 9— Cultivating Virtues.
Return to Center: This is an eightweek class in meditation, mindfulness, breathing and body-based( somatic) practices. Learn to regulate your nervous system, gain balance in life and organize yourself to meet challenges, uncertainty and difficult emotions. Do you find yourself overwhelmed and unmoored amongst the changing and concerning conditions in life and society? Do you find it difficult to manage complex and overwhelming emotions, a ruminating mind and real and imagined concerns? Do you have regrets from the past and worries about the future? Are you dealing with losses and letting go? Learn to cultivate internal spaciousness, align with what matters to you and find a

Troon Golf) attend our monthly board meetings. All three are non-voting participants.
Jim Gibbons returns to our board having previously been president of CGC and most recently the CCC representative to our board.
Additionally, Jim held the position of executive director of the Oregon Golf Association for 13 years. Jim’ s extensive involvement in golf and significant community involvement makes him a strong addition to our board.
Leaving our board after eight years of service is Perry Esterson. Perry has been a significant contributor both to the board and the Charbonneau
Golf Club. During his years on the board, he chaired the golf and green committee, represented the Charbonneau Men’ s Club and was the first representative on the CGC board to Charbonneau’ s emergency preparedness committee. Aside from his board duties, Perry has been one of the most active volunteers for work on the golf course itself. After the major ice storm in 2021, which brought
down trees and significant debris on the course, Perry was the first individual to volunteer for course clean up and could be found every day for three-plus weeks working to restore our golf courses. Perry has taken on assignments always without complaint, putting the best interests of the Charbonneau Golf Club and the community first. It was an honor to serve on the board with Perry.
