This fiscal year is our most successful ever

While we still have most of March to go as this article is written, the 2024-2025 fiscal year for the Charbonneau Golf Club will
BRAY be our most successful ever. The estimated revenue will exceed $ 2.8 million, marking our sixth consecutive year of increased revenue.
To understand the magnitude of improvement, in the fiscal year of 2019-2020, our annual revenue was $ 1.25 million. CGC and the golf industry in total actually benefited from COVID, as golf proved to be one of the few social / sport activities that people could participate in while maintaining recommended personal distancing. In fiscal year 2020-2021, our revenue jumped to $ 1.9 million. During the pandemic, CGC gained a great deal of exposure to golfers that were new to Charbonneau, but it has been the improvements in our course and facilities that have led to our sustained revenue growth.
2024-2025 accomplishments:
Completed the exterior siding remodel of our pro shop and restaurant
Installed a new permanent patio cover outside of the pro shop
Added new drainage to all nine holes on the Green course
Completed a major renovation of all sand traps on both the Yellow and Green courses( The white sand in our traps has become one of the signatures of the Charbonneau Golf Club)
Grew annual memberships to 480, a 10 % increase over the prior year
Continued to meet our goal of being the best golf value in the greater Portland market as paid rounds of golf will exceed 68,000 for the 12 months of our fiscal year.
Both the performance and improvements in our golf operation are due to the vision, leadership and hard work of our general manager Chris Bensel. We had a number of key personnel changes in this last fiscal year, but Chris not only overcame the personnel losses but found replacement personnel who brought additional strengths and skills. The most striking example of this has been the addition of Andrew Connor as our golf course superintendent. Andrew’ s expertise and leadership have produced significant improvements to our three courses. Additionally, Andrew has raised the expertise and proficiency of our course and operations maintenance personnel. In Food & Beverage, Chris overcame the loss of two managers and the result will be our best year to date, with the Market Café breaking even after two previous years of losses. I am sorry to report that our latest Food & Beverage manager, Olivia Slivkoff, has left due to a job transfer for her husband, Ethan. Olivia left a positive imprint on our business.
