We helped kids in need through dinner fundraiser
March winds and April showers soon bring May flowers . This is what we used to recite when we were kids . And The Dinner this March that the Cypress Branch of Boys & Girls Aid hosted
WIESENTHAL blew in great things for the kids that our organization serves . You who attended The Dinner on March 16 did a magnificent job of supporting kids through your generosity .
You had a delicious meal and took home some wonderful silent auction items . You raised your paddles to add to your support for all the Kevins , Susans , Marys and Jonathans served by Boys & Girls Aid . The children and young adults in the adoption , foster care , housing and shelter services are unaware of your generosity but will benefit from it . However we of the Cypress Branch of Boys & Girls Aid know about it and thank you !
March also blew in spring baskets for a number of children in the Boys & Girls Aid ministry . This is what happened : We wanted to make up baskets like Easter baskets for these children so we asked the Portland office what we should include in the baskets . When it was decided which things the children wanted and could use , the requests were printed on tags that were hung on a spring wreath . We placed the wreath in the courtyard of the house of a member of our Cypress Branch . Each of us who donated to the baskets stopped by this house and took a tag , purchased the items listed on the tag and took the items back to this member ’ s house . Then these items were assembled into spring baskets . The

baskets were stuffed with books , colored pencils , toys , candy , socks and much more and then were taken to children served by Boys & Girls Aid in the Portland area .
After a basket was delivered to Kevin ’ s house , he found it one morning by his bed and wondered what it was and where it had come from . Never in his young life had he seen anything like it . It was so pretty and full of things he liked . He asked , “ Is this really for me ; can I keep it ?” The answer was , “ Yes , you can keep it but save some of the candy for later .” All the other boys and girls were as amazed and happy with theirs as Kevin was with his .
These baskets are another result of the generosity of the Cypress Branch of Boys & Girls Aid here in the Wilsonville area .
