Embrace Your Desire to help Others , and let your resilience be a Shining Example !

The best leaders are those that are willing to bare it all , and share with everyone just how they got to where they are , and how they stay there . They know that it takes a lot of hard work and balance to achieve greatness , and at the same time it is not rocket science . Solid core values and work ethic are things that we all should be paying attention to , and trying to learn more ways to improve ourselves and our teams .
It was a humbling experience to get to moderate a panel with Lisa Jeffries , Chris Price , Drake Powell and Sherri Champignon . These are four leaders who embody these strong values and balance . Listening to them share about their own careers and give advice for the future leaders was a rare opportunity for us to hear from the people that have done it .
Our values , mindset and authenticity are what separates each one of us from the crowd . Sure , we all still need to be good at what we do , but it is more important than ever that we pay attention to how we do what we do . Embrace your desire to help others , your urge to be a cheerleader for your team , and let your resilience be a shining example . When we bring our whole selves to work , we are able to make a difference and to stand out .
A few of the great questions we should be asking ourselves :
• Are we staying humble ?
• Are we showing people through our actions how much we value them ?
• Am I treating others as I want to be treated ?
• Am I showing up right both at work and at home ?
Every member of the panel talked about how important it was to focus on your personal life and strive for balance . Having outlets , from cycling to woodworking , or yoga to wine drinking , is paramount to avoid burnout . Making sure to not lose ourselves in our work is not just important for us , it is vitally important for our families and our loved ones .
One last observation : each one of the panelists shared that they still learn every day . Nobody knows it all , and we all have to strive to stay open and coachable , no matter what job you may be doing .
As Walter Bagehot said “ A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do .”
