The golf course operations of CGC are built around three ninehole courses spread out over 112 acres surrounded by homes in the Charbonneau community . We are one of only a few 27-hole courses in the state . Each nine contains four par-4s and five par-3s . While shorter than many golf courses , each nine is capable of playing at just over 2,100 yards , the holes are challenging and allow a player to utilize a full set of clubs . We have some of the toughest par-3s in the state . The shorter length means faster rounds and a great course for a newcomer to become familiar with the game . As mentioned , the golf course and its facilities are open to the public . Currently 70 % of our play is from outside the community . Greens fees and annual membership rates are the same for both Charbonneau residents and non-residents . We have been averaging more than 55,000 paid rounds of golf each year over the last three years . The Market Café , our recently remodeled restaurant , is also open to the public . Our restaurant facility and staff have expanded our capability to cater events within Charbonneau . The food offering has been designed to give the entire community a place to eat , not just golfers . OB sports , a division of Troon Golf , manages our golf operations portion of CGC . All the employees of CGC are employees of OB Sports , including our general manager , Chris Bensel . Chris and the regional manager for OB Sports , Ryan Whitney , report directly to the President of the CGC and the board of directors . The relationship with OB Sports , which is a professional management company for golf courses , is really benefitting our operation as well as supporting our general manager and employees . We collectively put together a plan to make the operation profitable after years of losing money and we have been profitable now for the last four years , meeting our metric to remain self-sustaining . This has allowed our CGC board , which is made up of volunteers from the Charbonneau community , to concentrate on resourcing and guiding the overall direction of the operation , not running it . We leave that to the golf management professionals .
CWA
By LINDY ANDERSON
Join us April 10 for our luncheon
Spring is officially here and flowers will be sprouting up soon .
ANDERSON
Speaking of flowers , our April speaker for CWA will be Judy from Al ’ s Garden Center . Judy will be doing a demonstration for us . The luncheon is at 11:30 a . m . April 10 in the Event Center Dining Room . Construction on the Event Center has been delayed because of city permits and supply orders . Our caterer is Market Café . The price is
$ 32 for members and $ 37 for non-members .
As most of you know , Dalton ’ s Northwest Catering is out of business . Dave is retiring — good for him , bad for Charbonneau . At this moment no one has purchased his business . We hope someone does and offers to cater for us . At our February meeting Dave spoke to our group and thanked Charbonneau for the many years of support . We will miss Dave and his crew . He set the bar very high and we appreciate all he did for Charbonneau .
May will be our last luncheon of the season . The Fashion Show has been moved to September . CWA ’ s year always starts in September and that is when membership dues are collected . More information will follow on dues .
The cut off date for the April luncheon is noon April 6 . Please be sure to
bring your check in by noon on that date . We MUST call the caterer by 12:15 p . m . that day for their food ordering process . If you sign up after noon , your name will go on a waitlist . The check goes to Claudia at the front desk or the slot outside ( by the front door ) at the Activity Center . Be sure and sign up in the book in the Activity Center coat room .
A reminder that if you would like to be a CWA board member or committee member and / or know someone that does , please let one of our board members know . If you are a new resident and are interested in knowing more about our open positions , please contact me at 503-784-9645 or andersonlindy @ comcast . net . I would love to hear from you .
Our board appreciates our members very much and looks forward to seeing all of you soon !
Charbonneau Directory Changes
Spring is almost here , and it is time for the CCC office staff to begin updating the Charbonneau Resident ’ s Directory . This booklet is not just a resident directory . It also contains helpful information about Charbonneau businesses , homeowner associations , architectural control policies , etc .
Please ensure the information in the blue-colored 2022 directory is current for those already listed . The directory information includes resident phone numbers and e-mails . This information may have changed . For instance , if you have canceled your landline and are now exclusively using your cell phone , please contact us so we can remove the landline from the directory . The phone company will reassign those canceled phone numbers to new clients , and those new clients will receive your phone calls . This can be very frustrating for all concerned . The deadline for making changes is May 17 , which is the date of the CCC annual meeting .
If you have recently moved to Charbonneau , contact the CCC office staff at 503-694-2300 or Office @ CharbonneauCountry- Club . com and let them know how you would like to be listed in the directory . The post office will deliver the directory exclusively to Charbonneau addresses sometime in June .
