Sunshine Services
By JOAN VEDDER
Consider volunteering for our organization
March sure didn ’ t start off too well for me . I had a miserable bout of acute bronchitis that laid me flat for about 10 days . I ’ ve never
VEDDER slept so much in my life ! I ’ m grateful we stopped it in its tracks and I am building myself back to full speed — whatever that is . When you feel good , I ’ m thinking we probably don ’ t appreciate it . But turn that upside down , and realize that “ health ” is everything .
I know there are so many residents in Charbonneau that have chronic conditions and it can be a struggle to maintain the resemblance of “ good ” health . Sunshine Service comes into play when you need the loan of medical equipment .
As I stated in last month ’ s column , we have a BIG list of items that are available . Of course we need things to be returned in order to continue our service equitably . I ’ m still amazed that there are people who have lived here for any amount of time , from months to years , and they have not heard of us . Those of you who know all about us , please spread the word . The list of volunteers who will help you borrow ( or return ) items is in your directory . Just call them and they ’ ll answer your questions .
And , speaking of volunteers , we are losing a couple of them this year after great service and if anyone is interested in joining our crew , please let me know . You do not have to be available 100 % of the time , only when you have a little time to help out . I will train you ( It ’ s not complicated !) and you ’ ll be on your way to imitate Florence Nightingale . The new building is fully accessible to all . There are no stairs anymore . We could use a couple more volunteers so think it over . The longer the list , the better service we can offer .
April should bring more settled weather ? Enough of the “ snowflakes .”
