WHAT ITEMS SHOULD I CARRY IN MY GOLF BAG ?!

Most golfers have thoughts of the amount of time and effort a Tour Player puts into their game in terms of on the range and on the course , but I know most golfers never consider how many intangible things a Tour Player does to prepare to player a round of golf . One of those intangibles is to ensure they have everything they need in their golf bag . Here are a few miscellaneous things I believe every recreational golfer should carry in their golf bag for every round of golf .
SUNSCREEN :
Of course , we live in Florida and most of us are accustomed to using sunscreen , but I find many golfers will forget to have it with them when they are on the course . Get an extra tube of sunscreen and keep it in your bag . Re-apply every six or nine holes to ensure you ’ re fully protected .
BALL MARKERS , TEES , DIVOT TOOL , SHARPIE :
These items are things every golfer will use during a round of golf , yet most seem to either not have them or have misplaced them . I recommend getting what is called a “ golf valuable pouch ” to store these items in . Some other incidentals you can put in your pouch would be fingernail clippers , chap stick , ibuprofen and maybe a little cash in case the beverage cart doesn ’ t take credit cards .
TOWEL :
Most golfers do have a small clip-on towel attached to the bag , but I recommend carrying a larger caddie towel when you play . These bigger towels come in handy when it may be a little hotter or wet out and you need to regularly wipe off your hands .
GOLF BALLS AND TEES :
Yes , golf balls and tees seem like obvious items to carry in your golf bag , but I have seen countless golfers arrive at the first tee and have little to no balls or tees . This is something you should check before you leave to come to the golf course .
WATER BOTTLE AND SNACK :
Hydration is such an important part of playing golf . Most courses have some source of drinking water you can fill up your water bottle with while on the course . Most golfers don ’ t realize that playing a round of golf does burn energy and that energy needs to be replaced while playing your round . Having a small snack in your bag can really help you get through your round of golf more successfully . In next month ’ s “ From the Tour ” section we will take a deeper dive into the particulars of drinking and eating on the course and the effects it has on your golf game .
These are just a few items I recommend everyone have in their golf bag each time they play . Some other suggestions would be range finder , golf glove , outerwear , rain hood for bag , band aid , USB cord and business cards .
POST ROUND CLUB INVENTORY :
Finally , when you complete your round of golf and are headed back to your car , take a minute to ensure you have all your golf clubs back in your bag . Most golfers who lose a club don ’ t realize it until the next time they come to play . By checking your bag for all your clubs before you leave the course after your round , it will be easier to retrace a lost one the last time you used it . This will give you a better opportunity to get your club back .
