STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
This month ’ s “ Now On The Tee ” Student Spotlight is :
Tyler “ Turtle ” Reupert
Tyler Reupert has been a part of the Learning Center program since he was five years old . He started in our Junior Academy in 2017 . That summer , Tyler attended our summer camp program . Right away you could tell he had a real passion for the game . His determination to hit good shots meant he was always thinking . That first year in summer camp , that determination and thinking meant he was always walking really slow from station to station . So , one day during summer camp I looked at him walking slowly from the chipping station to the full swing station and said , “ Hey Tyler , you move as slow as a Turtle !” The nickname had a great ring to it and every day since he has always been Turtle to me . He loved it to the point he even got a head cover for his driver that was a Turtle . He has come a long way since he first started . He is now in our Operation 36 Junior Academy and is already at the 150-yard marker in less than half a year . He also competes in the U . S . Kids local Tours in Orlando and Space Coast . He has a career best tournament round of 42 for 9 holes on those tours .

When did you start playing golf ? When I was three . My dad would take me to the driving range at Dubsdread . I started doing lessons with Coach Steve when I was five years old . When I was seven and a half , I began playing in U . S . Kids Tournaments .
What or who got you interested in golf ? That ’ s easy ... My dad !
What is your favorite course ? Dubsdread because it ’ s so close to my house and easy to walk .
What is your current focus in your golf game ( what are you trying to improve right now )? Hitting better irons shots . I ’ m trying to work on making a better turn and not sliding .
What do you love about golf ? That you can hit all type of shots and every round is different . Also , I like golf because I ’ ve made a lot of friends on the range at Dubsdread and at U . S . Kids Tournaments .
Favorite club in your bag ? My Hybrid , because I always hit it smooth .
Which kind of shot makes you the most nervous or is the most difficult on the course ? Pitch shots around the green 10-15 yards away from the pin .
What ’ s your favorite color ? Green !
What ’ s your favorite food ? That is so hard ... I ’ ll pick 2 . Cheeseburgers and pasta .
Who is your favorite PGA or LPGA player ? Dustin Johnson
When you ’ re not playing or practicing golf , what is your favorite thing to do ? Read Comic books and play basketball .
What are your golfing goals ? To shoot 39 or lower in a U . S . Kids Tournament this year .
What is something ( s ) you did in the Learning Center you really enjoyed ? Playing games like Bunker Baseball and Putt the Plank .
