iii.
Summary
Overall the apprenticeship programme has been a huge success for SUN with new resources created, a new workshop programme for pre and post-16, a new accredited virtual CPD session and excellent feedback from the evaluation surveys from both students and teachers. Within the academic year, 2024-25, the Department of Education has ceased funding the ASK Programme( Apprenticeships and Skills), which was the only provider of free workshops and resources in schools regarding apprenticeships. Though SUN has always included Level 4 progression within the SUN programme, we have never had sessions that completely focussed on post-16 and post-18 progression to apprenticeships and nor have we had a unique workshop for staff to deliver in post-16 settings. This has been very well received by our colleges, with some using the workshops and delivering further sessions within their own staff.
As the key findings show, this has been a very successful programme which SUN will be continuing into academic year 25-26. Future recommendations are listed at the end of the report, however key areas will be increasing the interactivity of the workshops, promoting the CPD through the national Uni Connect programme and building a library of case studies of current degree apprenticeship students.
