Most parents ( 86 %) also reported that they had a positive relationship with their child ’ s coach . Positive ways in which parents described their child ’ s coach included :

Good communication and regular feedback on performance
Although most parents reported a positive relationship with their child ’ s coach , some ( 3 %) reported a negative relationship . Ways in which these parents described the relationship included :
Limited
Dismissive
Complicated . I don ' t feel I can be critical as it would be taken out on my child , so I dont say things I would like to
Challenging and unapproachable
Awkward , uncomfortable , unwelcoming on their part
Conflicting - I have to be the parent . He is only interested in the athlete
She has a poor relationship with parents - doesn ' t listen and when asked questions she attacks parents
It ' s hard to have a relationship as it ' s a swimming lesson
