Apparel Industry supports Government ' s cleanliness drive Swachhta Hi Sewa
Supporting the Government’ s nationwide initiative of cleanliness drive under Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, Indian apparel industry has also come forward for the initiative. The Apparel Export Promotion Council( AEPC) organised one such programme, which saw the participation of Textile Minister Smriti Irani besides leading apparel exporters, and students of Apparel Training and Design Centre( ATDC), at Okhla( Delhi). Smriti Irani did Shramdaan by cleaning garbage and motivated others to make‘ cleanliness’ as a habit.“ Participation of AEPC and the apparel industry is a clear message not only to this country but to the world that India has resolved to build a clean and healthy nation,” she said. During the event, ATDC students and the local youth were trying to take selfies with Smriti Irani. The Minister asked them to leave their mobiles and do Shramdaan. She also instructed AEPC officials to make sure that the streets where the Shramdaan took place, would remain clean completely in future.
Centres across India will run cleanliness drive for the next 15 days.“ We have urged the exporters to support this initiative and spread awareness about cleanliness. Many garment export factories are adopting nearby areas to make it clean,” he shared.
