Apparel Textile Sourcing Canada: Indian exports hopeful of the Canadian market

The third edition of Apparel Textile Sourcing Canada( ATSC) at Toronto that concluded recently, proved reasonably good for the Indian participants. Nearly 40 Indian apparel exporters participated in the show that saw around 500 international exhibits from across the globe, with almost 6,000 visitors marking the event. For Indian garment exporters, Canada is an important market. According to official data, during January to June 2018, India exported garments worth US $ 172.82 million to Canada, which is nearly 3.97 % up compared to same period of last year. It is expected to touch US $ 350 to US $ 400 million by December 2018. Farooq, Export Manager of Chennai-based company Subbarow Apparels told,“ We met 10 buyers there and gave samples
to them. All the buyers were small and medium level as their requirement was for 200 to 300 pieces only.” Subbarow Apparels offers fabric as well as readymade garments and is already working with one Canadian client. It was the company’ s first ever participation in any sourcing event in Canada and it highlighted its cotton-based garments at the
show. Another Indian participant Anand, MD, Dean Textiles Buying Service, Tirupur shared similar opinion. He said,“ Most of the buyers who visited were like online sellers and asked for small order quantities.” One more company from India which participated first time in any Canada-based sourcing event was Seer Global, Noida. Exporting kidswear to many countries, the
company explored Canada for the first time. Sanjeev Jain, MD of the company shared his experience and said,“ Canada is a good market and as it was missing from our portfolio, we strongly felt the need to explore this region. Though the buyers at the fair were small, I am hopeful that in future, we will get buyers who can place bulk orders also.”

Indian companies happy about rising demand of apparel made from organic fabric

With the growing awareness and demand for organic and sustainable apparel products, more and more companies are joining the bandwagon by coming up with such initiatives that not only just make them different, but also increase market opportunities for them.
Ahmedabad-based CA Patel Textiles, one of the leading apparel and home furnishing manufacturers churning out a turnover of US $ 57 million, has started offering men’ s shirts made by fabrics like banana, eucalyptus, soybean, rose petal, milk, aloe vera and corn fabrics. All these fabrics are certified and 100 per cent organic. Yash Patel, Director of the company told Apparel Online,“ Many European buyers are interested in such organic and new types of fabrics. We started using these fabrics from the last 6 months.” He further informed that expense in the area is an issue as order quantities remain small for such garments.“ A lot of companies are trying to develop garments from such fabrics, so in next few years, there will be a lot of development on the same. We are trying to keep ourselves ahead in offering these products,” added Yash.“ Sourcing of such
Yash Patel, Director, CA Patel Textiles who recently started manufacturing shirts from innovative fabrics fabric is not much difficult as we are in constant touch with 3 such suppliers from Punjab and Delhi. There are several price ranges for such fabrics, so we are hopeful that costing will match to the buyers’ bracket,” informed Mukta, Merchandising Manager of CA Patel Textiles.
Delhi-based HSPS Textile( Harpar Group), a respected textile company offering a large variety of fabrics, also deals in such innovative fabrics.“ From last few years the demand of banana, soybean and corn fabrics has increased in a good way. Not only exporters or designers, even companies producing garments for the domestic market are also asking for these fabrics,” informed Shilpi from Marketing Department of the company.
