DIRECTIONS BY Fringe Frenzy Anna Sui Brock Collection Calvin Klein Anna Sui Michael Kors Oscar De La Renta Michael Kors An ode to the ’80s makes a comeback every other season, when an element from the celebrated bygone era is utilised in novel ways to keep the vintage theme alive. This year it was dedicated to the hippie fringes as designers experimented with the element of detail in different fabrics such as statement leather, breezy organza, sustainable jute fibres and even fine and lustrous satin. Fringed hemlines, sleeves and accessories such as waist-cinching belts, draped sashes etc., are all set to join the racks of Spring 2019 fashion to add the extra flare to the otherwise straight silhouettes and striped prints. Moody Florals or Dark Tropicals Red-Valentino Leaving behind the conventional character of being bright and colourful, florals and tropical prints were revamped to address a more oriental influence for Spring 2019. Taking up a moody form with darker shades such as black, maroon and deeper shades of green and peacock blue, florals and lush leafy tropical motifs were paired with contrasting motifs such as geometrical linear patterns and circles. These versatile print-pattern pairings effortlessly transformed daytime looks to evening occasionwear. These patterns also experimented with contrasting palettes, as popping shades of yellow and pinks set against fine lines of darker tones such as black, made a statement. www.apparelresources.com | OCTOBER 1-15, 2018 | Apparel Online India 31
