Gartex 2018

Amalgamating Fabric and Technology under one roof

Gartex is back with its third edition, bringing with it a revolution in exhibition content for the industry. With around 150 participants, the show this year will cater not only to a quest for technology, but for fabric too. Usually one gets to see either a fabric fair or technology fair, but Gartex believes in an amalgamation of both, to provide a wider experience to its exhibitors and visitors. Talking to Apparel Online, the organiser of the show, Gaurav Juneja, MD, MEX Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., expressed confidence that the fair will be appreciated by both the exhibitors and visitors alike.“ We have a vision to make the fair a one-stop solution for the visitors. The thought process behind keeping fabric / accessories and technology together is that any manufacturing person or exporter who is coming would want to see everything at one place, whether it is fabric, machinery or accessory. And similarly, buying houses / brands want to see not only fabrics and accessories but also the latest technology that the market is offering,” reasons Gaurav.

Judiciously managing an event that represents a wide spectrum of products and categories requires a different set of preparation. As Gaurav candidly states,“ When you are managing diverse categories under one roof, the mindset has to be different, as things work differently and the synergies too are different. If I say it’ s a machinery show with digital printing technology, then it should have inks and transfer process also

This year Mouvent, a leading player in digital textile printing industry, has confirmed its presence in the show as a Platinum sponsor for the event, which will enhance the strong printing section. as a part of it, only then is it a fair for the exhibitors and visitor alike, so everything aligned should be a part of the show for a complete end-to-end solution. The only difference is that for a fabric show, the profile of the visitors will be a little bit different though the companies are same – so we get both production and sourcing people. I have noticed that people who come for fabric are equally interested to see how it is printed, so it’ s a one-stop solution for everyone.”
Another unique feature of the event this year is the Denim Show. Over the years, the denim market in exports has seen a decline; in these circumstances, exporters are eyeing the domestic market, which has a huge potential for the denim section.“ The denim section is a fresh addition to the fair along with aligned products and accessories, which will be showcased in a separate area during the show. In all, 21 denim mills are participating,” informed Gaurav. Apart from this, an embroidery section will have all the major big players displaying their products while another area will cater to ink, digital printing, raw material, sewing and knitting players. This year, another thing to look forward to is the Trend Pavilion
