Splenora Textures invests
US $ 17 million to enter into
denim production
“We have shortlisted the machinery, be it looms
(Tsudakoma, Japan) or processing and as we will
produce premium quality fabric, our infrastructure
is also of high standards. Our focus will be on
premium denim fabric like 11.5 to 12.5-ounce
stretch denim, premium slub lycra, etc. Soon
installation will start as more than 40 per cent
construction is complete. Total 6 acres of land
is being used for this project and residence
facility will also be provided to the labour by the
company.”

Gokaldas Exports to double
capacity; raises Rs. 70 cr. from
market
Bangalore-based export house Gokaldas Exports
Limited has raised Rs. 70 crore via qualified
institutional placement (QIP). The company
closed its share sale with institutional investors,
such as HSF Mauritius and L&T Mutual Fund
owning to stock in the company. According
to Siva Ganapathi, MD of the company, the
organisation plans to use a portion of the fund
to set up new factories, mainly in low-cost
locations as it is expecting to almost double the
capacity in the next three to four years. A part of
the fund would also be used as working capital.
The company is in the process of strengthening
the management team, besides upgrading
technology and infrastructure.

starts a new factory
With an investment of Rs. 5 crore, this
new factory can produce 30,000 shirts per
month. Majorly into exports, the company
is ready to take on domestic market also
with more products. “For exports, we have
a wide product basket and offer most of the
product categories in apparel segment. But
in domestic, where we are comparatively
new, casual shirts were missing. Since casual
shirts are now being allowed in offices
