Be it an emerging young director of a medium-level green factory, or a stalwart like Neeraj Jain, Joint Managing Director of Vardhman
Textile Limited, Apparel Online had One-On-One interesting discussions with many such industry stalwarts. Some of them are given below:

Turnaround time for GHCL under fresh
leadership… Direction is sustainability in
innovation
“We are very close to launching our online brand Auraa
in the US and are working on building a sizeable online
business, primarily with Amazon… I think in domestic
sector the thing that is really lacking is the retailer
taking ownership and leading the way. I believe the
customers are increasingly becoming aware and are
getting ready to adopt products that are sustainable,
but they don’t have much of a choice yet.”
– Manu Kapur, President & CEO, GHCL’s Home Textiles

Innovation in yarn is at the centre of growth
at Vardhman

Tackling challenges in fabric sourcing, the
Gokaldas Exports’ way
“Once we are in the process of development, we look at many aspects,
but what actually gets to the market depends solely on how the demand
moves; some of these developments gain success, while others remain
in the R&D files; may be for future use. To get ideas for development,
there is a lot of cross-germination of thoughts that happens between
the organisation and the manufacturers.” – Neeraj Jain, Joint Managing
Director, Vardhman Textile Limited
“There are nearly 50 people in the Gokaldas Exports fabric team
including quality experts. It sources yarn and fabric worth
Rs. 650 crore to Rs. 700 crore (35 to 40 lakh metres per month)…
“Our prices to the buyers are valid for more than 6 months but
to meet that commitment, the team works very aggressively, as
none of the mills quote for validity of more than 15 days.”
– Mahendran R., GM – Fabric Sourcing, Gokaldas Exports
July 1-15
“I want to sell my factory’s concept, not just products”
“I do not push for orders, but sell the legacy of the green and automated factory, which
automatically draws in the orders. In fact, we never talk about price or the quantities, we only tell
customers what we are doing, our progress and the way we are building our future.”
– Zahir Sait, Director, International Trading Company, Tirupur
