With data partner Statista , Forbes ’ surveyed more than 40,000 employees , including 25,000 women across the country to come up with its inaugural list of the best employers for women .
The list of 300 American companies encompasses 16 industries and represents those that are creating the best workplaces for women . The ranking focused on general workplace factors , including diversity , development and working conditions in addition to topics particularly relevant for women , such as maternity leave , pay equity , and flexibility . Diversity in top executive and board of director roles were also examined .
The survey has revealed 21 companies in clothing , shoes , sports equipment as well as in retail and wholesale categories securing leading positions in this

list . H & M is on 23rd rank in this overall list , but tops in the clothing segment . The company has a total of 11,900 employees . Tilly ’ s – Surf and Skate Clothing occupies the 26th number . Levi Strauss & Co is at 37th rank followed by Michael Kors Holdings securing the 47th position . Gap received the 66th position and Buckle is at 82nd position only . IKEA , however , managed to be enlisted in the 56th rank . Owners of iconic brands such as Calvin Klein , Tommy Hilfiger etc . PVH are also in this list . It seems that the world ’ s number one online retailer Amazon . com needs to work more in this direction as the company is on 269th rank . outlets in Maharashtra , where recently , the State Government imposed a ban on the usage of plastic , in a bid to save the environment . The US-based retailer will expand this initiative in other parts of India in a similar manner in the coming time .
Krish Iyer , President & CEO , Walmart India spoke on this development and reportedly said that the company understands how huge this ( plastic pollution ) issue is and that it will take a combined effort from citizens , industry and the Government to cut the plastic waste . “ With this project , our attempt is to completely eliminate single-use plastic shrink wrap throughout our company ’ s stores

across the nation by the first three months of next year ,” he stated . Notably , Walmart India claims to be using sustainable operations by generating more output from solar energy , water harvesting and recycling and energy efficient solutions for the betterment of the atmosphere .
Furthermore , it has installed solar rooftop panels on 17 of their Best Price stores in the country which are catering to 33 per cent of the total energy demand in all of its outlets . Walmart expects to take these numbers to 40-50 per cent by the next couple of years and has set a goal to achieve 100 per cent renewable energy in the coming few years .
