CS Textile, Tirupur knitting success in Home Furnishing

• Also expanding in sweaters
• Using technology for consistency in quality
Having expertise in knitted home furnishing products like dishclothes, tea towels, potholders, gloves, cushions, blankets, throws, net bags, pouf cushions, fitted sheets, Tirupur-based CS Textile is completing 15 successful years of its establishment. With significant thrust on advanced infrastructure, sustainability, product development and employee-friendly policies, the company uses 100 per cent cotton such as BCI and organic cotton, cotton viscose, mélange, wool, acrylic, and man-made fibre with cotton. Besides, CS Textile boasts of an overall capacity of more than 2 lakh pieces per month, and hence is geared up for further expansion, expecting 35 per cent growth in its business. In a candid discussion with Apparel Online, Hari Prasath, MD of the company shared his business strategy and future planning.

Hari Prasath, one of the notable and motivated entrepreneurs, started his career as a marketing and merchandising professional and worked with the top companies of Tirupur for a short stint. Due to his knowledge and efficient services to the buyers, soon he got the opportunity to start his own business which is continuously growing from day one. Apart from home furnishing, the company is also into T-shirts and sweaters. While its capacity in sweaters is 5,000 pieces a month, for T-shirts, the company has a capacity of 10,000 pieces per month. As a thoughtful Hari shared,“ Initially I started as a merchant exporter and for many years I worked with buying houses and did indirect export … But two years ago, I started my own factory with advanced machines of Stoll, Mayer & Cie etc., which gave me the strength to pursue bulk orders, and so I started direct export also. Working with wholesalers and retailers, CS Textile has good reach in Scandinavian and European countries for its home furnishing products. While for sweaters, apart from Europe, it has good clientele in Canada and US too. The strength of advanced infrastructure – fully fashion flat knitting machine, plated poly fleece circular knitting machine and much more – control the costing which is also a reason of success for CS Textile. Hari explained,“ With better sourcing of raw material and limited overheads, we have been able to offer the products at the same price to our buyers over the years. Though there is pressure from all sides, be it in the form of lack of raw material, labour cost, cost of basic infrastructure etc., but to support our clients, we keep costing in their bracket. And for this, our investment in technology helps us.” He also added that due to advanced infrastructure, his factory requires minimum labour. In fact his factory works on the concept of‘ labourless factory’.
At the same time, the staff, the workers and the employee-friendly policies are the strength of the company. Nearly 90 per cent staff is working with the company from more than 9 years. This has led to better understanding and good working culture within the company.“ Our staff is well-experienced, so they understand properly the clientele of the company and serve their needs in a better way,” said Hari positively. The company offers housing facility to its workers and organises a variety of motivational, recreational activities on a regular basis for its entire staff.
