Shree Sadashiv Garments: An emerging and
growing apparel manufacturer
Only 14-months-old but Sedex
and Inditex approved! Sounds
interesting! Shree Sadashiv
Garments, Vijayapura (500 km
from Bangalore towards North
Karnataka) has much more beyond
this to impress anyone.
Manufacturing casual and formal
shirts for men, its unit of 350
machines is spread in an area of
22,000 square feet. Initially, the
company added few clients who
were in touch with its professionals
but recently it also started few
buying houses and is even catering
to various buyers of EU like
Falabella and Pull and Bear. It has
aggressive future plans too.
Without any prior experience,
starting a new unit was quite
difficult, but hiring of professionals,
lot of research and hard work
helped Santosh Kumar Hiremath,
CEO of the company overcome
challenges. Working earlier as
the Quality Head of HP, he told
Apparel Online: “My uncle
Santosh Kumar Hiremath (R), CEO with Sadashiv V. Pujari, Deputy MD, Shree Sadashiv Garments
Vishwanath Pujari initiated this
move as he wanted to give back
to the Vijayapura city – especially
employment to women. Tailoring is
always the best option for women,
so he decided to start a garment
unit.” The company employed such
women who used to pick up cotton
form the fields and also gave them
nine months’ training in two parts.
Five months back, the company
got approval from Inditex
as it had the vision to work
with top brands and also on a
larger level. Looking towards
the future, the company is in
the process to set up a sampling
unit in Bangalore and is also
geared up to explore the
domestic market.
“After visiting Apparel Sourcing
Week (ASW), I am quite hopeful
that now we will be able to work
directly with few top retailers
whom we had met at the seminars
of the event. They were happy with
our infrastructure and showed
interest in connecting with us.
The second thing that I learned
from ASW was that we can’t limit
ourselves to shirts only. We have to
set-up our lines in such a way that
tomorrow with minimum changes,
we can produce any product with
the same set-up. With this learning
of ASW, we are motivated to enter
the Indian domestic market and
enhance our product portfolio,”
said Santosh.
“Compliance and certification
proved quite fruitful for us.
Following compliance, our order
bookings have gone up from 30,000
to 80,000 pieces per month. Today
buyers are seriously seeking orders
from us; earlier it was the other
way round,” concluded Santosh.
