Promoting the traditional craft,
ikat denim, a new offering for
the season was done in a very
fashionable manner. Arvind team
did a lot of work on this and was able
to give ikat look in denim, which is
commercially viable also. Azurite
(Saturated indigo/rich blue hues) a
line of premium fabrics by Arvind,
is one of the patented technology in
India that uses indigo dyed weft and
warp yarns creating saturated blue
fabrics was highly appreciated at
the shaw. Boomerang, Boomerang
360*, Boomerang Bounce were
also the point of attraction for the
visitors. Boomerang is a flagship line
of premium denims that takes the
comfort of stretch to another level due
to extreme elasticity, amazing hand
feel, shape retention and superior
recovery. Boomerang 360* is a
performance stretch denim with high
dimensional stability that stretches
in all four directions to give a perfect
fit. It offers high level of comfort in
performing daily activities. While
Boomerang Bounce, offers vertical
stretch allowing an up-and-down
flexibility. It ensures that jeans do not
lose their shape or gap at the waist.
Arvind Ltd. eyes
Rs. 10K crore in
textile business
Arvind Limited is aiming to increase its textile business
from current Rs. 6,000 crore to Rs. 10,000 crore with an
investment of around Rs. 1,500 crore. The investment
will be majorly used for capacity expansion and
the establishment of new manufacturing facilities.
The investment is likely to be injected by the textile
conglomerate over the next three to five years, reportedly
stated a top official of the company.
“Athleisure will be a major focus area for it (investment) in
view of the significant opportunities in the area,” Aamir
Akhtar, CEO Lifestyle Fabrics – Denim, Arvind Ltd. was
quoted as saying in news report. The textile major is also
considering verticalisation as denim has been contributing
the major chunk at present to the overall revenue. Arvind,
operating in denim, knits & wovens and voiles textiles
segments, is further planning to list its branded apparel
business, Arvind Fashions, as a separate entity.
Markedly, the textile major recently reported a revenue
of Rs. 2,706 crore in the third quarter of the fiscal. The
conglomerate is now optimistic to continue the growth trend
in the next quarter as well. Arvind Ltd., which is also in the
process of demerging its branded apparel and engineering
businesses, is expecting to continue its CAGR growth of
16 per cent and above in the time to come. The country’s
leading denim manufacturer even inked MoUs recently with
Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Jharkhand, to set up apparel
manufacturing facilities in these states.
SRTEPC opens office
in Coimbatore
The Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council
(SRTEPC) has opened its regional office in Coimbatore,
Tamil Nadu. The office, housed in SIMA premise, was
formally inaugurated by Textile Commissioner Kavita
Gupta. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the
office-bearers and past Chairmen of SRTEPC, and SIMA
Chairman P Nataraj. SRTEPC, set up in 1954 as an apex
export promotion organisation to promote the exports of
Indian Man-Made Fiber Textile (MMFT) products, is known
for playing a transforming role in inculcating an export
culture in the industry, putting India among the top 10
MMFT exporters in the world by undertaking various export
promotional programmes in emerging and new markets in
Latin America, Africa, CIS and the Middle East.
