H1 ’18 makes dent in the Chinese shipment to EU; Y-o-Y
share reduces to 27.50% from 29.70%
January to June 2018
The first half of 2018 showed a sign of recovery as far as volume-wise apparel import of EU is concerned. The main
reason behind the decent jump in volumes (5.26%) was the fall in unit prices that pushed European buyers to capitalise
on the same by placing more orders in countries like Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan and Vietnam, while India’s struggle
in European market continued. Notably, China felt massive dents in its export values as share in the EU clothing market
reduced to 27.50 per cent in H1 ’18 from 29.70 per cent in H1 ’17.
