Tamishna Group supporting
industry with value… From
yarns to sweaters
T
amishna Group’s first venture,
Etafil Bangladesh was established
in 1991 as a sewing thread supplier
to the then nascent Bangladeshi
garments industry, but has since
emerged as a standalone, vertically
integrated garments company with
business interests ranging from
mélange yarns, dyed yarns, buttons
and sewing thread to sweater
manufacturing for export market.
Taking the company forward is
the Young Director of the group
Naweed Chowdhury who joined the
company in 2009 and is very upbeat
about the opportunities that are
currently challenging the industry.
In conversation with Team Apparel
Online, Naweed shares his strategy
and strengths that make Tamishna
a company to reckon with.
With some major players driving
fierce competition in the Bangladeshi
garments industry, the fact that
Tamishna’s backward linkage
units have a huge dyeing capacity
for threads and yarns as well as
spinning of value added yarns is a
feat that Naweed is very proud of.
“All major brands and exporters are
working with us and the edge that
we offer being a vertically integrated
company cannot be matched by any
other company, both locally and
globally,” says Naweed confidently.
The edge according to him is in
three areas – price, flexibility and
deep understanding of local market
– significantly, all three are critical
deciders when choosing a partner in
the export business.
The price advantage comes from being
an integrated player in spinning, yarn
dyeing and accessories to sweater
manufacturing. On the accessories
end, the company manufactures
polyester, PPC and cotton sewing
threads along with polyester buttons,
ensuring a wide range of products
as per requirement of the garment
manufacturers. Having a yarn dyeing
capacity of 40 tonnes and sewing
thread capacity per day with facility
Naweed Chowdhury stands strongly behind his father Gulzar Alam Chowdhury. MD, Tamishna Group

we are now also

non-traditional

Australia.”
