Apparel brand The North Face launches‘ Renewed ' to reduce textile waste

American outdoor product company The North Face, owned by VF Corporation, has given a reason for cheer to its consumers who wish to access affordable yet sustainable fashion.
The brand has unveiled‘ The North Face Renewed’ – a collection of refurbished products on pilot phase. The retailer thoroughly inspected, washed and repaired the collection to like-new condition, to maintain the quality and performance standards.
Notably, textile is now the fastest growing type of waste, accounting for around 16.2 million tonnes in
the United States. The effort to reduce these tonnes of waste by The North Face will promote the circular business model, while also strengthening the company’ s mission to encourage people to actively participate in opting for a high-quality product that reduces overall footprint.
“ Recommerce is an important next step in opening up new markets and minimising the impact on the planet. The brand is determined to take a holistic approach towards sustainability,” stated James Rogers, Director of Sustainability at The North Face, in a statement
issued by the company. With the new renewed line, the label aims to reduce the scrapping of perfectly good clothing by repairing and recycling them, and keeping them out of landfills.
The assortment at present offers more than 400 men’ s and women’ s apparel products. Each of these items is covered by a oneyear renewed warranty by The North Face.
