Year 2018 can be termed as one of
the finest years of recent times when
technology played a key role in uplifting
the global apparel industry, both from
the retailer and the manufacturers’ side.
Apparel Online kept a close eye on both
the small and big developments in terms
of technology that took place in the
apparel sector. Here are some of them:
ack Sewing Machine Co. acquired Vibemac SPA for a total of EUR
23.2 million (US $ 28.6 million), as the Chinese firm looks to gain a
foothold in Italy’s garment equipment industry. With this acquisition,
Jack Sewing aims to expand its product categories and the customer
base in Italy with a particular focus on automated jeans production.
“The acquisition will help Jack to enrich its product line and
accelerate the development of automated sewing machines.
At the same time, Vibemac’s experience in the whole process,
planning, layout and sales can give Jack a useful reference for smart
manufacturing complete solutions, which will accelerate Jack’s
entry into smart package solution service providers," commented
Jixiang Ruan, Chairman, Jack Sewing Machine Co. Ltd., who was
overwhelmed with the merger.

hina-based ShangGong Group (SGSB) acquired 65 per cent stake in
Tianjin Richpeace Computer & Machinery Co. Ltd. The acquisition
was announced during the 12th anniversary celebration of Richpeace in
Baodi district of China. The merger aims at the expansion of businesses
of both the firms and, according to ShangGong Group, its customers will
now find nearly all machinery of the textile value chain under one roof.
“Production progress from digital textile printing through cutting to
sewing can be monitored now and steered by our digitised machine
network systems,” said Dietrich Eickhoff, Chairman of the Board
of Duerkopp Adler AG stating that SGSB will be able to see large
perspectives and synergy for the future by this merger.
